Making a Stand for Protein Skimmer - BPA Free?

I am looking to make a stand for my skimmer. I was thinking of using some egg crate material from home depot or lowes.

Do I need to be worried about what type of plastic it is? Do I need to make sure its BPA free?

A lot of hobbyists including myself use the plastic eggcrate from Lowes or Home Depot for frag tank racks and various other things

I just used pvc fittings. Made a tripod basically out of them to hold the skimmer at the height needed.

I agree. You can take a piece of pvc and cut it whatever height you need

Egg rate from Lowe’s and pvc pipe is what I did and it’s perfect

Depending on how much you want to raise it some people put a Marine Pure block underneath.

I just bought a mini milk crate from Walmart. It works great. But I needed about 6 inches as my skimmer was sitting in 12 inches of water. It needed to be between 6 and 10. I took it to 6 and it performs great.
