I am getting Vertex 150 for my sump, due to water level of 10", I need to make a base for the skimmer to about 8" level. Suggestion of the easiest way to do this.

Thanks

The easiest way is with egg crate (light diffuser) using zip ties. That's what I used for my biopellet reactor.

What i have always used is pvc pipe and a piece of acrylic from lowe's. Just super glue the pvc legs to the acrylic. Reason i do this is because the eggcrate generally bow's a bit vs the acrylic. Either or will work though

thanks, I agree with the issue using egg crate and also the holes in egg crate sometime doesn't line up with the feet of skimmer. I will try the acrylic route. Thanks all, this site is the best

I have used the egg crate as well, to the problem with the skimmer and egg crate lining up, I used some OXO silicone drying rack material. It also helped greatly with noise/vibration reduction as well.

thanks, how tall is this material, do I need to put on the egg crate?

I used a brand new clay pot with holes in the sides and zip ties. My water level is 13 inches in my sump, so I need something about 4 inches tall. I have an Aquamaxx co-1. That has worked well for me.

The silicone is only about 1/4-1/2 inch thick so yes you'll have to place it on egg crate. I actually used some on the bottom and top of the egg crate. Potato quality pic but you get the idea.
