I just got some buckets from the jewel grocery store bake shop. they were filled with butter cream and frosting they put on there cakes. I cleaned the buckets inside and out with hot water. what is the best way to make the buckets clean and safe for mixing salt water ?

You could actually use a dish soap and clean them. I would do a final clean with vinegar and rinse and call it good to go. Obviously food grade plastics....likely a polyethylene.

thanks for responding. I thought of vinegar.do I use it straight or do i make a mix? if so;what ratio of vinegar to water?

I might do a few more hot water rinses and then wipe it out a few times with straight vinegar on a rag and let it dry. Do that 2-3 times and then rinse with hot water again.
