Making It Through A Twenty Three Hour Power Outage

Good job on the video. What generator were you running?

Great job getting to work quick, every minute counts!

Not sure if it was just for video, but I would keep the lights off during an outage in the future. SPS can take 72 hour of no light just fine. Most other corals can stretch 4-5 days. Even LEDs put off enough heat to raise tank temps, plus a fuge light. Additional fan(s) pointed right at the water would reduce frequency of ice additions as well.

I just let the apex control the lights.

Thank you for sharing. I actually think about this a lot, as I am new to reeling and we've had some extreme powere outages in the past. I have prepared with power back ups, but was never sure how to properly do the icing part of it. This was safe and simple! Now I feel confident I could successfully keep my tank healthy :)
