Making lime water

Only stir the limewater for an hour or two to mix, then let it sit unstirred.

Glad I saw this. I've been stirring my limewater for only 5-10min, in my 33gal trash can, until cloudy. Then letting it settle. I'll do this for the next batch and hope for better saturation with less lime leftovers. [emoji16]

10 minutes might be plenty, depending on particle size, whether you add excess, etc.

I stir mine until the conductivity hits my target of 8+ mS/cm. 10 is saturated.

So starting with 10 tsp to 5 gallon is a good? My tank doesn't drop alk very fast yet. Just kinda wondering if I should start my mix lower than that? Or is this just gonna balance at that point. Don't wanna cause a spike I guess is all I'm worried about.

If alk does not drop much, start a lot lower. Say, 2 teaspoons in 5 gallons and see what that does to alkalinity over a week or two.

So for starters I went with 2 tsp in 5 gallons. My ph was always around 7.8 and now it's chilling about 8.1. Which is good. I'll be testing my water later we will see how it's holding numbers.

So I've bumped my mix up to 5tsp on 5 gallons I also added about a cup of vinegar in the mix figuring it won't hurt. My alk is at 8.2 right now hoping it will climb just a bit and level out at around 9.
