Making some Refugium reactors

I have done some reading on these and because my system does not have a fuge built into the Sump I want to try my hand at building and making one work for my system. Let me know what y'all think! I'm going to have a few diff sizes....here are two so far, 7" and 5" diameter. I have some different ideas for the lighting for them. Hate the idea of having rope lighting wrapped around them so as I build it I will explain the thought process.

Well if you don't want to "see" the rope light you can always mount the light strips inside a solid PVC pipe that your reactor slides into. Just another option, excited to see this DIY come together as I'm contemplating the same project

That's exactly what I plan to do. I have a 3/4" tube I'll be putting in the middle to house he light and leave the outside open to view the growth of the cheato.

Ok so here is the progress of the build. This is just the mock up for the final product. Testing out different ways of making this and it's going to match the color scheme of the filtration.

Here it is with the barb fittings tapped in and ready for flow. I'm going to use this as a template for the actual ones I'm going to use.

I have the same thing on my tank. With the strip light wrapped around it. Works great but can't stand the look and sence I don't have a sump it's not hidden. When I have the lights on I hate how it light up the entire room. I might try the idea somone else said to put a piece of pvc over it so you can't see it. But will be following along to see what you come up with.

So I finished this one today it turned out pretty good! Lights are just some cheap eBay leds prob are not powerful enough. I used them to show the idea I was after. Everything is all sealed up and water tight.
