I picked up a Radion last night, and unfortunately my tank is on the first floor, computer is on the second floor. I would need a USB cable that's at least 40 feet to connect the light to my computer for programming. In addition, I would have to make changes, run downstairs to make sure I like them, then run back upstairs.

That said, I have the Netgear wireless gaming adaptor shown here:

TigerDirect.com 404 Error - Page Not Found

Will the above allow me to control the Radion with my iPad (which is on my wireless network at home)?

That link is broken. Which model where you looking at? One works ok the other requires a different USB cable

Hmmm. Not sure about the link. I think it's the Netgear WNCE 2001 or something. It's the module that's recommended for use with the Apex systems.

So, whats the story with this?? I was about to start another thread, but why not use the one that is here.

I just got a pair of radions and my computer is upstairs. not far, but upstairs. Whats the best solution to make the radion wireless? any input on an adapter of sorts?

thanks

I just went through the same problem with my 3 new Radions on my 240, which is 57' from my computer.
I ended up using a 60' cat 5 cable and moving my main pc into my front room where the tank is.
It was a pain, but doable.
I spoke with Rob at Ecotech yesterday and he said they were looking at a 3rd party unit and info would be available soon. How soon? Didn't say.
There is a thread on Reef Central that mentions one or two that might work.

I ended up using my wife's work laptop..

Everything that I was reading suggested the Radion wasn't able to be controlled wirelessly.

Hopefully the third party control will come out soon.

i guess I could measure...but its just up a flight of stiars. what about a really long usb cable??

You could do a really long usb cable with a universal hub on the end. Then plug in the usb cable from EcoTech into the hub.
But you kind of need to see the lights react to the program.

Lol...the preview starts running at midnight. So, I could make it down in front if the tank before 8am rolls around.

If you don't mind spending the money, you could pick up a Belkin USB hub, just hook up the radion, set the hub near the tank and you'll be able to connect to it wirelessly.
