so for the last 2 weeks my Malanarus wrasse has been hanging out in the front corners of my tank. i have not seen him get bullied. he eats when ever i feed. he has been in the tank for over 2.5 years. no additions to the tank at all for almost 6 months.
i dont see any spots of any type on him no other symptoms other then he just hanges out in corners. he was the first fish in the tank also.

Any white, stringy poop? Does he have trouble swimming at all? (Top or bottom of him tend to "float" better than the rest of him does?)

No string poop that I can tell. i can't tell if he is sinking or swimming to the bottom. But he used to swim slower more methodical through whole tank. Now stays near bottom and swims for food then, head to the bottom again.

Also. Normally he is first fish up and last to go to bed. He is already missing I hope just in sand. It has been an hour since video. I looked around tank and on floor. Nothing.

Usually when they begin behaving strangely it's the beginning of the end for them.

Does it seem like his head or tail is heavy when he swims? (Like it the tail is always lower or visa versa?).

I suspect internal parasites might be at play. Does he still eat?

i want to say his tail is heavier. i have been working late allot lately so i have not been able to monitor him much. yes he still eats, races the other fish to the chunks of food. @4FordFamily do you suspect internal parasites that can be treated with prazipro?

It it seems like he swims with a weight on his tail, it could be a spinal injury. Less common in melanarus, than in say fairy wrasse.

How long have you had it?

It probably wouldn't hurt to buy metroplex and focus and add to some food for a week or so and see if that helps... since he is eating.

he is almost 3 years old in my tank
Could be old age or some internal injury -- try metroplex and focus. Check LFS if you have trouble locating it check amazon.

In the video, it looks as though he is having trouble staying buoyant.. like he's sinking back down to the bottom and struggling to swim back up. It could definitely be an injury...or maybe a swim bladder issue?

ill swing by my lfs tomorrow, i did think possibly swim bladder problem but dose not exactly sound how others have described it. i agree he dose appear to either having trouble swimming or too tiered to swim.

I'm seeing heavy/fast breathing in the video. Is the a correct observation @Kershaw?

it defiantly seems to be faster then normal, how ever i have had sick fish before and there breathing was significantly faster then his. i have not had allot of sick fish so its hard to tell. all the fish in the tank have been in there for at least a year
