Then i guess what other trigger can I get that is reef safe that has alot of color like the blue throught?

Depending on the Niger trigger they can be pretty reef safe. Mine was good for a year or so then just started eating my clean up crew

well is there another reef safe trigger that is really colorful? Also have a good or better chance then the niger trigger? not to say thows arn't awesome just don't want to chance the possibility of my clean up crew being at steak.

Any trigger will eat clean up crews. If you can keep them well fed you will have a better chance of them not.

Red Tail triggers are generally reef safe and very nice looking fish, I've had one for about 8 years now without issue and my Blue Throat was good in the reef for 10 years before that. One of the biggest issues with triggers is food type and size. If you watch it eat and see it is taking food then spitting it out and taking it again the pieces are cut too big. You need to make sure their food is small enough to fit their mouths. In nature they eat stuff that is relatively small, they pick stuff off the reef and their food needs to mimic that. Small strips of squid, smaller pieces of Krill, fine cut table shrimp, etc. Ocean Nutrition makes a nice trigger blend I have used to supplement feed when my triggers were smaller.

Ok a trigger that I can get small and that is no more than 50$ just got a new job so money is tight. I feed mysis shrimp and brine and pellets and nori.

If $50 is you're budget then a Male blue jaw might be hard to find.
A Niger would fit the bill but are 50-50 chance those odds are to risky for me.
I would save my penny's for a blue jaw.
Hope this helps.:)

You can usually get nigers triggers fairly cheap. I would recommend going to the store and getting precook end, deveined frozen shrimp. Cost maybe 10 bucks and will last a long time.

so the table shrimp has great nutrition? are they better than brine, but a little lighter than the PE mysis shrimp? The mysis shrimp I fed was the PE kind.

Brine is okay but is tiny. PE Mysis is good in general but you would have to feed a lot to get him full. Shrimp has good nutrition. If your worried it doesn't have enough soak it in some Selcon. Bigger pieces of shrimp make them work plus it fills them up.

Yeah, getting a nice trigger for under $50 is pretty tough. Save your money and look for a nice looking Blue Throat that has been eating well and comes from a reputable source. Red Tails can occasionally be found for $100 - 150 range. Liveaquaria's Divers Den has a good looking Indonesian Blue Throat for $100 right now. One thing I noticed when I was checking the big sites is that they have their care listed as easy. From my past experience I wouldn't say they are easy fish to care for, they can be a little tricky at times.

trigger

Well be for my trigger died he actually eat to much or binged on the food, he got so fat so quick his digestive system couldn't keep up. I think that that's the way he died. Or that is what I think and be for he died for some reason he went into hiding and I was concerned so I spooked him out and he couldn't swim right kind of like he was disoriented. I have had that trigger for a year and in that yr he never had any problems untill the last 2 weeks for some reason. Wounder if he binged because I wasn't feeding as much as I used to??
