Hello,
I have a 4+yr old 65 gallon. Switched to LED lighting about 7 months ago at which point I cut back most of the SPS in tank and rescaped abit.
parameters have been tested weekly
SG 1.026
These numbers may have fluctuated by up to 5% over the past few years
NO3 5
Alk 8.3
Ca 420
Mg 1350
Up until a couple of months ago I had:
Bonded pair of Ocellaris 3in. and 2in.(4yrs)
Purple Tang (2yrs)
8 line flasher pair (6 month)
2 months ago I placed a bicolor blenny in the tank. The male flasher disappeared the next day and the male clown died two weeks later. My coral also didn't have the normal PE where the blenny was settled so I assumed the blenny was irritating it in some way and removed him.
Last week I added a leopard wrasse and a 1in. male percula. I wouldn't have normally added 2 fish together but they were both the only fish in the LFS holding tank and had been together there for a few weeks. The leopard has been fine. She actually adjusted to the tank very quickly. (Swims between 8AM and 5PM and goes in sand) The percula had been swimming with the female. I have a goniopora and Duncan corals that the clowfish host in. However, this morning, the male percula died. Two days ago he had film his body and seem distressed.
Are my females killing the males? None of the other fish are showing any signs of disease; eating and swim patterns have been consistent. The oddest thing I have noticed is that the tang and the female clown seem to spend the most amount of time together.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
