Yes. That and the pattern of the spots indicate that the dorsal muscle area is concave instead of convex as it should be.

Thanks. Really bad sign. Dont recall that I’ve ever had one recover once it got that thin, even if it was still observably eating. Has been a big problem for me with the black leopard particularly.

If she eats well that is great. Once acclimated captive live they eat everything. I works long hours too. Normally leave home at 7 and won’t get back until 6:30 to 7. I Jane my light on 14 hrs day and moon light too so I can see the tank at night and before And after I leave and return.
I am a believer in automatic feeder. I have automatic feeder that feed the tank 8 times a day, every hours.

You have to train and see which one she like to eat. Omega One have good food. I use Otohime pellets but you cannot get this in small quantity.
I would get a small supply of Omega One pellets and see if she take it.

Thanks for ur time and and helpful input. Going try my best to fatten her up. I know they are very hard to keep. I got all bent out shape last night when you and other guy said she wasn't looking very good. So going try my best to get her looking healthy.

Good luck with her. They are beautiful fish. Getting her to eat is more than 1/2 of the battle. Mix what ever she wants s eating with pellets. Once she got the idea, start to feed her pellets. They have higher energy content than frozen food. Once she eat pellets giver her automatic feeding with an Eiheim auto feeder. Cheap easy to use. you can feed 4 the Mrs a day and accurately put out the exact amount you want. Don’t get floating pellets or sinking pellets. Get the type that is same density as tank water and it float with current for your fish to eat.
You may want to get a feeding ring, a floating ring that keep food from flow down the overflow to the sump.

I actually bought one of them eiheim feeders today with some flakes but she didn't touch the flake so tomorrow I will be going to get some pellets. And I probably will get a ring I have been looking at them on Amazon. So I'll trying mixing pellets with with the frozen. I will update tomorrow or Sunday let ya know how the weekend goes. Yes I was thinking of getting some but I am pretty sure I have some type of pods in there. Tanks been running for over 3 years and I have seen white flee looking ones on my glass. And I see some moving on rocks at night. I just don't know what kind they are.

They do, that’s true; however, unlike the mandarin it is generally quite easy to get leopard wrasse to eat brine and mysis .... as long as they are in good shape following initial acclimation. The bigger problem is that even if a leopard is eating but shows that dorsal muscle concavity it suggest underlying parasites. I’ve never had one survive for very long once it looks like that sorry to say.

Hey just wanted to update she started eating flake today and I just gave her some pellets and and she ate a few but seem to like flake better. Is one better then the other beside working better in the auto feeder?

Mainly it is the auto feeder flakes or pellets does not mater. Flakes float longer and thus she will be able to eat more but must have a feeding ring or else it will go down the sump. If she eats flakes, great, get her to eat multiple times a day and she will most likely do well.

There are multiple species of wrasse in this Genus. Some are easier to keep than other. Your species is middling in term of hardiness, and very beautiful.
I have keep 4 species so far of the Macropharyngodon genus. M. negrosensis , M. meleagris, M. geoffroyi, and M. ornatus. I failed with Ornatus and Geoffroyi, less than 1 year, but able to keep the other two species for long term.

KK. I have the feeder set for 4 times a day ever 3 hours and when I get home I'll feed the frozen. But yes I do like the fish alot. I am going to try and find a meleagris female. But I have also been checking out the divided leopard wrasse too. But I appreciate all the info and help. I checked out ur build thread. Love ur tank with all the fish and the pic with the meleagris so pretty.
