So while I’m waiting for my new tank to be delivered to @WWC and my youngest daughter has been begging me to let her have her own tank. Welp I gave in as today is her birthday and she turned 8. I surprised her and brought home a Waterbox cube 20. I have Carib sea rock and special grade sand from my new build which I will be giving her. She already asked me to show her the website with fish (live aquaria) and has been eating her birthday cake looking at the nano fish page lol. She loves the hobby and nothing makes me happier than to share this with my kids. I will post updates as she does her own aquascape and testing etc... of course daddy will give her first corals when the time is right. Picked up a blade light as she will only be doing some lps, soft corals and RFA.

I Kid you not she woke up at 7am so excited still and asked if once we get everything set up if she could have her own text kit just for her tank and of course showing me fishes. She said dad I know it’s a lot of money but I really like this fish....she was look at helfrichi fire fish lol. I don’t even have that in my tanks lol. She got good taste though very proud father. I will post pics and video when she works on her aquascape as this will be her build and maybe she can look back at this one day.

Very cool! I hope one or both of my kids will get into the hobby someday too. She is lucky to have parents who can mentor her. Hope all goes well and will be following along.

Thank you, it broke my heart as she almost cried when saw the tank and told me she really wanted her own tank for her birthday but was afraid to ask for it since I told her once before it cost lots of money. I’m only 38 and have had two heart attacks so I try not to hold anything back from my kids. She is into something I love because I introduced her to it and as a dad I will always cherish this as long as I’m alive because it is our bond. I know she will always remember me for this and I hope when she has kids she remembers that and if I’m not around she is able to tell her kids this story while she does the same with them. Sorry dad getting a little sentimental but they are what I live for

i love that youre doing this for her. and just so you know shes going to remember you for alot more than this brother. you sound like a great father.

my daughter is 7, she had a sleepover and her and her friend stared into the blue light all night lol. what fun sharing this with our children

This is so awesome. Nothing like getting a whole new generation involved in this hobby. Anything to keep them off of the electronic devices and creating something. I can’t wait to see what her little slice of the ocean turns into.

Ok finally with all the chaos from work I’ve been able to complete projects in the home now to start working on baby girls tank. Have a question as I can’t seem to find a good sturdy cabinet/stand for her tank. What does everyone use as a stand for the Waterbox 20? I checked IKEA but the measurements of some of the products they have are not to the dimensions of the tank from what I found. Looking for something similar to a night stand in size

thank you all in advance

Ended up placing the tank on my daughters dresser. I placed the rocks for her as she told me how she wanted them they were a little to heavy for her to handle and I was afraid she would drop them. She leveled the sand and filled with water now we wait the cycling process

She now has 3 more little fish all hiding of course and a couple little corals as well. She does a weekly water change of 1 gallon.

Very cool! Check out the tailspot blenny. I have enjoyed them in all of my tanks.

New bedroom set coming so we decided to build a new tank stand. I was worried that the stand I built would not support but I’m pretty certain my refrigerator could sit on it lol. Going to be spraying some black paint tomorrow and adding the door. The lil nugget asked if she could get an mp10 and a doser lol oh and an apex. This kid is to much

Now to work on getting rid of the hair algae. We added a orange chestnut snail, some rowaphos and chem pure blue along with an icecap k1 skimmer.
