Man i hate skimmers.

Open the drain more.
Turn down the dc pump.
Raise skimmer.
The 3 things that can be adjusted to lower the water.
Also some skimmers take forever to break in.

That skimmer will work just fine once you get some doc in the water. Its just going to take some time.

Is your return pump in the same chamber as your skimmer? That may be causing the micro bubble issue. If it is, is there anyway to put a sponge or filter floss as a baffle between them to catch the micro bubbles?
Nope skimmer is in with the socks. The. Refugium then return chamber.

Ifs not a DC pump. Would a dc be better. I mean this thing is loud AF. Im extremely underwhelmed.

this is what I did with my Red Sea skimmer, I used baffles of eggcrate until it broke in and then removed the eggcrate a piece at a time until it skimmed how I like. In the beginning my skimmer was mostly out of water with about 5” of eggcrate underneath, it took that much height to “dry skim” in the beginning for me.
Did you have a micro bubble issue? I mean its 10x worse than my canister filter tank I had set up before this.

I set this tank up to get a sump to avoid this problem here i am. POed and completely let down AGAIN.

could just be the new pvc glue or something causing the skimmer to go crazy.
I agree. There is likely something in the water, assuming the skimmer is assembled correctly, the water level is correct and the air flow is correct.

I have the same skimmer and I will say it does not like when the water level is too high. As for the micro bubbles the only time I have had issues with micro bubbles coming from the skimmer is when I did not have the rubber grommet that seals around the pump wire in the bottom plate in wrong and the skimmer body did not seat like it was supposed to, it being just a tiny bit (and I mean hardly even noticeable) incorrect caused the micro bubbles to escape

Look at Tunze skimmers
A 9410dc would be perfect.
Turn it on, set the dc pump speed, and it skims. To clean the cup you just lift out, the neck is part of the cup. Set it at a depth of 6".
They have anti overflow roo.
I run same on my 45 frag system.
I run a 9430 on my 80g total 120.
These skimmers is as set and forget as they come.
This ia my 9410dc in my 45 frags sump.

How long did it take to break in? In at a week and no change at all. Over flowing still.

Honestly I don’t know. What are the nutrients like in your tank? When my tank was new and had lower nutrients the skimmer would just fill the cup, I got to the point that I just leave the drain open on the the cup because I constantly have low nutrients anyway and let the liquid drip back into the sump.

Also this picture you posted the water level looks like it above the sticker, mine definitely does not like the water level above the sticker
