I've come to learn that some of the zoa gardens I've seen are actually just concentrations of unmounted frags, not zoas growing on a single rock.

I wish I'd known this when I started my garden.

A couple of the polyps in my garden are more invasive than the others, and out propagate polyps I like more. This is especially true of my BlowPops.

So, I've been trying to prune my garden to manage borders. I use white vinegar and a hypodermic needle. It takes a little bit, as once injected the Polyps seem to die slower than one might expect. But, it does seem to be working.

Any other gardeners out there? And tips or alternative methods?

Could I buy a few frags for a good price?

I have yet to figure a way to get live Polyps out of my garden Josh. LOL

I do have some miscellaneous Polyps on plugs however. Let me get some pictures, and maybe we can find a way to get together.

BTW, if you drag your Dad to the swap on Oct 1st, please be sure to introduce yourself to club members! I may have some zoas, and some of that Birdsnest and Montipora we discussed there. It's a great place to find some very good deals on coral![emoji6]

My Zoa garden is fairly new but I glued the frags to a rock. Maybe this was a bad idea?! Anyway I cant wait to collect more of these little suckers. Im thinking about getting rid of all other corals and filling my biocube with Zoas.

Depending on what type of rock it is you maybe able to use a scalpel. I buy the hobbyist scalpels from Home Depot.

Yep, now and days I do the frags next to each other versus all on one rock.

@CastAway I've found that when you clear a spot like that, stick a frag plug out a chunk of rubble in the open areas, that way as they grow over the plug and begin to encroach others you can just pull the plug/rock out. End up with a bunch of frags(store credit) and mine seemed to grow away from the plug after some time, which was the desired effect from the get go.

I'm hoping those spots I clear fill back in with the surrounding polyps.

When fully retracted, I can see how the scalpel would work.
