Managing nuisance algae in a mangrove/seagrass tank

OK, so here's a challenge for you. I have a mangrove/sea grass biotope aquarium in my marine bio lab. I chose to place this aquarium next to the window so the mangroves and sea grasses can get natural sunlight. I knew this would lead to inevitable algae outbreaks. My question is, apart from manually removing the algae by hand, is there anything else I can do to (a) discourage the growth of the problem algae, while (b) encouraging the growth of the sea grass and mangroves.

Cyanobacteria is easy, I just use some type of antibiotic treatment like Chemiclean or Red Slime Stain Remover. The more difficult culprits are the hair algae and green algae that collect on the glass.

Any input would be welcome.
