Although familiar with how to quarantine most fish, I am a stranger when it comes to sand sifting goby or Mandarin , i am planning on one of each to go in quarantine in a week or so.... And would like to have everything I possibly can ready to take care of their special needs until they go in the DT .any advice , threads, personal experience,on this is welcomed . Cheers

The goby can be QT'd the same as any other fish, except maybe put a little sand in the QT for him or in a glass pyrex bowl.

The mandy is another story. I highly recommend purchasing one already eating pellets or at least frozen. And then running him thru TTM, as mandarins do not do well in copper: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/tank-transfer-method.192655/

With the mandarin I would run TTM. It's quick enough and you can buy pods to feed them until it's over or spend that time trying to ween them onto frozen foods. -side note: they will still need live pods in the long run because their digestive tract is so short they would starve to death without a constant stream of food.

Thank you for the information, I don't know that I will be able to do the TTM at this time.im hoping to pick the fish up this weekend, would it be unwise to quarantine these fish together or with other fish? QT is 20g. I'm hoping to get 6 juveniles of varying species through each cycle, the DT is 400g currently 2 clowns & 2 pajama, full of lps some sps are in a qt of their own.i do have a 2 1/2 g. I can use .

You can QT a goby & mandarin together. And the only issue with other fish is they may outcompete both for food in the QT. I always use a turkey baster to target feed my slow eaters.

Thanks for letting me pick your brain, you are a wealth of knowledge.I will probably segregate them with egg crate in the qt and target feed them. I really just want to make sure It's as smooth a process as possible Cheers
