I am looking into a research project for college, and I was thinking of looking into breeding green mandarins and spotted mandarins. This project would be at least a year in the future so I can get a breeding system ready and do the proper research to make this venture as successful as possible. What would I need to begin this project? Obviously tanks, heaters, and pumps, fish and food, and lots of live rock and pods, but what else would I need to even consider doing this? I have access to large copepod cultures and I can grow rotifers or other food for the babies. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Synchiropus picturatus is not an easy fish for breeding. For me getting them to pair up and spawn isn't the hard part. Raising the larva to juvinales is difficult part. Synchiropus picturatus has a larval period of about 12 days but once the "settle" they are no bigger than a clownfish lava freshly hatched I'm thinking go with something easier to graduate like seahorses or clownfish
