Mandarin Dragonets

For those of you that have been successful supplementing your mandarin dragonets diet to accompany live pods. What frozen/dry food(s) have they ate?

I have had the best luck with frozen brine. i would kill the pumps on my tank so it would float down and i would try to target feed the best i could. I would do pods and frozen brine for the first week though just in case the drag was not eating the brine right away.

Did you feed in a jar or use a baster/pipette?

Frozen brine does not really have the nutritional density mandarins need. I have had success feeding New Life Spectrum Small Fish pellets, and I hear they will eat the smaller items in the Reef Frenzy frozen mix.

Some very successful aquarists on this forum have used live blackworms (these are apparently VERY good for your fish) and live baby brine shrimp.

If at all possible try the Nutramar Ova, NLS pellets .05, finely chopped Mysid Shrimp and best of all newly hatched baby brine shrimp! They are very easy to hatch, very nutritional and alive

Nutramar Ova tends to be a very quickly accepted frozen, and packed with goodness

I would use a blaster, I didn't know that brine did not have enough nutrients, I am going to have to try the Ova. Ill Keep you posted on how that goes.

Thanks all! I researched the Nutramar Ova, seems it's out of stock everywhere for another 3 weeks. Also read elsewhere that live white worms are great to feed as well.
