Hi All. My mandarin dragonfish is not looking well. Started yesterday. Picture attached. He has a fuzz on him, lethargic, not breathing easily. What is this and any advice on how to treat? Thank you.

Looks kinda like brook. Did you QT? what substrate is that? params? salinity? tank age? do you use RODI? temp? where did you get the mandarin? other fish?
I'll do my best to answer all those. It's a qt/observation tank. He's been in there a couple weeks. Two other inhabitants. A watchman goby and a midas blenny. Watchman doing well. Blenny has started acting strange, hanging out near the surface whereas before would stay at the bottom. Parameters 26.3 celcius, Ammonia 0 from the badge I have on the glass, been a week or so since I tested nitrite/nitrate but the tank is cycled. Was 0 nitrite and low nitrite last I checked. And yes I use ro/di.. salinity is low 28 ppt. Was trying to match lfs salinity and grade up. Thanks. Advice on next steps and how to treat? Thanks in advance

Oh and the substrate is Caribbean dry. The sponge is in there for the bacteria. I wasn't sure if I should put sand in a qt tank but I did so for the watchman goby. Thanks

what other symptoms from the blenny? what do you feed? is there water movement/bubbling? any meds in the water? Do you use RODI water?

not sure that mandarin will last another day, maybe try metroplex with copper. I hope this helps

The blenny is kind of lethargic as well. But still eating. Other than the staying near the surface, no other symptoms from him. Yes to the RODI question. I have a RODI filter from bulk reef. I share your thought about the mandarin. I don't think he's going to make it :(.

I keep forgetting to answer all your questions... I feed pellets and frozen brine. For the mandarin, I've been turning off the pump and letting the brine fall right in front of him. And it's been working. He's been eating st least until yesterday. The flow in the tank is from an overhang back filter. No meds in the tank. Thanks

I agree it looks like brooklynella, I had a clown that was struggling and did an emergency fresh water dip until I could get to my LFS for proper meds
