Mandarin gill flap damaged?

I got a mandarin dragonet delivered the other day and the gill looked frayed. Now it looks a little more fuzzy. Is this a big issue and how do I treat?

Hoping it heals for you, I think it’s from ammonia built up during shipping. Do you have any thing on hand to prevent a bacteria infection?

Can you get a clearer picture? That looks like a bacterial infection, so an antibiotic in a treatment tank would be the way to go. Mandarins don't enjoy being kept in treatment tanks though, you'd need to feed it live pods I think.
Some bacterial infections heal on their own, but you mentioned that this has become more fuzzy, so it could be growing.

Thanks, I'll try. Been feeding her pods and will try to treat. Pictures havent been the easiest unfortunately but I'll keep trying.

Oh, that looks really serious, it looks deep and involves the whole right pectoral area. I think the only way to proceed would be a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic in a treatment tank - furan-2, Neoplex or maracyn 1and 2. The prognosis isn’t good though, sorry.

Thanks for the help Jay, I'll see what I can find tomorrow and start treatments.

I managed to find everything and stocked up on meds. Started Furan 2 and hoping for the best.
