I am wanting to get a mandarin goby for my reef tank, and I would like to purchase one that is already eating frozen foods or pellets. Does anyone know where I could do that, and if you have any experience with purchasing one from that place could you let me know how that went for you?

I haven’t personally bought from them but stumbled upon this thread earlier about sales from Biota on here:

All of my fish are from biota. I don’t have a mandarin (though I will be ordering one from them shortly) but I have been super happy. I have some fish that are considered finicky or hard to keep in aquariums, but these guys eat everything .

Biota or otherwise, you want a captive bred mandarin. Even then though, you will want to be sure your tank is a mini copepod factory

Even with Biota or any tank bred Mandarin goby according to them they feed live foods not pellets for sure

I have a pair from biota. They are very happy and swimming around. Not too sure if they are eating the crushed pellets I put into the tank but I see them peaking at substrate and rocks. I’ve only have them for a few days but they are awesome and swim all over. I thought they would lay low for a few days but not these guys. Here’s my male. He’s much bigger than the female.

After doing a ton of reading, including the Biota thread they would be the only place I buy from. Wild caught seem to have a much lower survival rate. Biota are also raised eating pellets and if your pod population is lacking you have something to continue feeding to keep them fat and happy.
