Tank transferred and watched 2 weeks. Added to the tank and now he is somewhere in the rock work. Have any of you had this problem and then he shows up? Thanks

If you just added the mandarin it’s getting use to its surroundings.
Do you have a stable pod population ?

Yeah I should. Live rock is probably 10 years old. Tank has been going for like 2 years or so now.

I have not seen it so nice I placed in tank on Thursday night.

Only thing it could of been maybe ph shock due to display being dosed with alkalinity. I made sure salinity matched.

Ok I have a 75 gallon not quite a 180 but I guess they could hang out in one spot for a while if they had ample pods in a spot.

Having no Fuge isn’t going to help , you might end up buying pods

I always find them in my sump sock and sponge. The last one I bought was hiding and then eventually he cane out. This one just makes me mad because I went through qt which was tank transfer then observation for 2 weeks. I think if this one does not make I am done trying because that month of qt is hard work.

Depends on how you scaped the tank, I have a pair in a 75G tank and I see them both everyday. The way I have placed the rocks with hiding spots forces the mandarin's more in the open as the larger fish have made claim to them.

It has been only 4 days so I hope to see him soon. Thanks for the help. Their is a lot rock that he could hide in.
