Mandarin in trouble

Help! After I introduced an anthias(it died), I see no copepods in the glass, and my mandarin is getting skinnier and skinnier! I can’t buy live copepods because they don’t sell them in the country I live, and I failed to feed it frozen copepods. What should I do?!?!?!

Hatch some baby brine shrimp. I've gotten a mandarin through a QT process with no pods using fresh hatched baby brine shrimp.

You could try giving baby brine shrimp, but this is tough to solve. Do you know why the Anthias died?

Why did you get a fish you can't provide proper nutrition for? They eat 1000s of pods every 24 hours.

Got to fully agree with this,you wouldn’t buy a dog that you couldn’t supply food for so why another animal,I think going forward you need to research what dietary requirements and needs your livestock needs,hope the brineshinp works but it will be tough without pods

Get fish eggs/roe if you can. Hatch live brine and start a white worm culture. Set up a mandarin diner to spot feed it.

Culture your own pods to feed it. Assuming you can find some on the rock or buy live rock with them on it for a starter.

Do all the other “quick fix” things first to keep it alive until you can get the white worm and pod culture going.

Maybe pick a soft coral or any that’s cheap that’s on a large piece of rock that will have loads of pods but these guys eat 1000s a day think you will struggle to bring it back but good luck

i think the consensus is get rid of the fish, considering you can’t get live pods where you live it may be best to stick with some other species in the future. happy reefing
