So I've had my green mandarin for about 3 months now. Have a refugium full of pods and transfer some every few days and even add new pods about every 3 weeks. Wouldn't think that he is lacking food but today while feeding the tank (flakes) I saw the mandarin chasing a flake and then eat it. I decided to try to add some pellets right in front of him and he ate tons of those!

Anyone ever seen this? I know some people work forever to train a mandarin to eat prepared foods and many have no success. Mine just decided to do it on his own. Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited! Just was a little shocked lol

Congratulations! And yes my current red eats anything.
Look ya getting him some frown too. Baby brine mysis etc. a nice varied diet. Check out LRS foods.

My mandarin loved frozen brine shrimp and ate right from my baster. It's a great way to supplement their diet when they eat frozen or prepared. Consider yourself very lucky! Good luck with him.

Not all learn to take prepared foods. When you get one that does, that's a nice bonus.
