Mandarin

An awesome looking fish, I've had mine for over 3 years. When people come over there amazed by this fish. Just make sure u have an established tank and a lot of pods into ur sumo to keep him with plenty of food.

I think there very hardy if there eating and u have a steady food supply. They are not aggressive at all in my experience.

Harder to keep them most think. Pods are huge to success with them normally they eat nonstop so they'll go through tons daily. Aggression isn't a issue. Sadly many die from slow starvation because of lack of enough pods long term for them.

If you can get them to eat frozen they are like tanks. However those that don't take to a captive diet generally die unless you have a large tank.

@loumaggs has a video of mandarins being very aggressive. It's the first and only time i've ever heard of mandarins acting that way, but it's a video worth watching.

Pods Pods Pods and then go get some more Pods. They never stop eating because their intestinal tract is so short. They have to and will clean out a 50 gallon tank of all it's pods in short order. I have built a feeder for my mandarin and supplimented with newly hatched baby brine shrimp (NHBBS) and that helped mine put on some weight. So there's that.

Bugs in the system. Little creatures that come out at night and crawl all over the rocks and sand. Can be tiny to small. They are a must if you want a dragonet. Lots of species, so just do a google search for live reef pods. Should find info.

I've never seen one acting like this before either... they still don't like each but its never been this bad again

Heres the video

I just added a Mandarin to my 150. He seems to be very shy, only coming out to graze on a few rocks then back to his hole. I was shocked because I thought he'd be pretty active.

That is so strange. I would possibly expect some issue with scooter blennies but a Clown..

I can't wait until my new tank has matured enough to get one! Good luck with yours if you decide to get one!

How often do h have to feed the the little guys these pods and how much at the time

I dont feed him pods other than what he can catch in the tank, he does however eat frozen food :)
