Hi guys I’ve had my mandarin since January he’s been doing great fat actively seeing him get the pods
usually swims all about unbothered by other fish. Today I saw him at the bottom and he had passed away...
any thoughts ?
no nitrates salinity w/n parameters
my other inhabitants from anems to clowns to pincushion urchins seems to be doing fine

It's usually nutrition but you said it was fat?

Sorry for your loss. If nothing seems out of line on the body, parameters are good, no new additions that can bring in disease...sometimes, despite best husbandry one just does not know. I don’t see you did anything wrong .Mandarins now seem to be available tank raised, and I hope you will give one of those a new good home instead.

thanks for the support guys
It was fat, yup pods delivered every 8 weeks it was captive bred from the start. But he wasn’t old so i just don’t know
I do 15% RO changes weekly get algae off glass only new addition is a bubble tip anem but others are doing fine so far...

How old is the tank? What size? Was your pod population being eaten up every 8 weeks??

Can you list your other parameters? 0 nitrates is fine for fish but isnt what I would consider good parameters.

Tank 11 months
30 G
i mean 8 weeks was just what i figured to do he looked fat and seemed to be working but guess it was just my estimation
i have test strips so i don’t have numbers for you but pH looks appropriate
