I was think about geting a mandarin dragonet in my 30 gallon reef tank i have a refugium and plenty of live rock and have 3 copepod cultures. I,m also planning on supplement with brine shrimp too,the tanks been set up for a year or so it doesn't have any other fish right now I'm guessing the answer to be no but I'll ask anyways

Thanks

Its doable. You'll just have to supplement pods every so often cause rule of thumb is to have 60lbs of rock for a well established pod population. Being a 30gal tank it will definitely wipe out the pod population faster than they can populate.

Yeah I was thinking that but i do have a refugium so I'm thinking that would help a bit but I have tons of pods multiplying in my cultures so I think I will be able to support one of them.

As long as you keep pod cultures going you can do it. They eat a ton of pods. I have a baby one about the size of my thumbnail, well he was. He is in a 65gal tank with 60lbs of rock. I still have to add pods every so often. Little thing literally demolished the pod population that was going. In your case your always going to have to add pods

I had one in my JBJ 30 gal. For a little over a year , she’d also eat live black worms and frozen food but pods were favorite , unfortunately I added a 6line wrasse and didn’t realize they were competing for the pods, she didn’t make it. If it’s the only fish in the tank and it eats other food and you supplement with pods it might work, I’ll be honest I felt so bad , to confident . :(

Sorry for your loss , I just need to be very careful with the mandarin and it would probably work out fine.

Thanks I think so too.

I have a mandarin and 3 wrasses in my red sea 350 but I went to @AlgaeBarn and signed up for bi-weekly shipment of tastey pods for my squad! Wife wont let me set up a pod farm and this keeps everybody happy, highly recommend.

I got my pods, phyto and macro algae from them great stuff but I have the space to culture my pods.
