Mandrews 29g build

Got my CUC from reefcleaners today, some of the snails didn't do well in the heat so I had a few dead ones and possibly more but time will tell. Also got my HOB finex fuge! Here are some photos and I'll add more once I get chaeto and the fuge light hooked up.

Never mind the light was shining into the tank so I went a different route.

Light it from the bottom! BOOM! Genius. [emoji1306]

Does this Acan look okay? It doesn't seem as open as it was before. I've fed it mysis twice since I got it but it doesn't look quite as good as it did when I got it.

Got some chaeto from my buddy to start my fuge! There was also a bit of clurpa (spelling?) mixed in.

It appears as though the Chaeto is growing a little, but there is some that looks like it's dying. I'm assuming maybe it's shock from changing water since I didn't acclimate it at all. Or maybe the light is too strong there? Any ideas would be much appreciated!

The top part may be dense enough to block light to the bottom. Trying stirring it daily.

It's lit from the.m bottom. So the part that's getting white is on the bottom. That's why I'm wondering if it's too much light?

I wouldn't think too much light, but maybe the heat? Measure the temp right there. And stirring it once a day can't hurt if it's not tumbling.

Very unlikely imo. I'm not a macroalgae expert, but this stuff is shipped in damp paper towels so I imagine it's fine. Someone else with more experience may chime in though.

Time for an update, the chaeto is growing fantastically! And I just today added a Reef Octopus BH1000 HOB protein skimmer and I'll post a picture of what it has produced in only 6 hours!

Not bad, it looks like it will skim really well once it's broken in.

It's used so there shouldn't be too much of a break in period but I did bathe it it vinegar before I put it on the tank.

Few things going on with the tank this week! I just got my Jebao pp4 wavemaker in the mail today and will be installing it on the tank a bit later. As well as tomorrow morning I have an order from blue zoo aquatics coming in. I ordered a firefish, a bengai cardinal, and a cleaner shrimp, as well as a torch coral and a chalice. Will post pics when they come in!
