Hello! I want to get myself a mangrove but not put it in my tank. What sort of care is required? Can I put it in tap water? Do I need a light if it is by the window? Would a simple vase suffice? Is substrate necessary? Forgive me, I’m new to mangroves :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Keep in mind, evaporation in your 'vase' will raise salinity over that 1.024 ideal range... too salty is bad for roots and plant. Freshwater misting on leaves.

I've been playing around with mangroves in freshwater actually for a few years. Below is a quick video I did on what I learned. Have other videos too there on different things related to mangroves about how to set up, etc.

You don't need to keep a mangrove in saltwater.

@NotReefsafe did you get a mangrove yet?
