I've been playing with mangroves for around 4 years in freshwater though. I've heard the roots grow quicker in freshwater which is why some folks will transition them to saltwater to speed up the process. As long as the roots are in the water though with plenty of light, they should flourish. I have a dozen outside here in Charleston, SC; they love the heat, humidity and sunlight. I've made a few videos going over what I've learned and how I set them up you can watch too.
