Mangrove Plant

I have kept mangroves for along time and they are very interesting to keep. you would have to have alot of them to benefit your system, I kept them because they just look neat to have a tree grow in your tank. They can be tricky to keep sometimes, but arnt difficult. Donny at fifth day can order you some, or if you check ebay there is a guy in hawaii that sells them very cheap, you will probly have to buy propagules (seedlings) but if you email the guy he will usually send you bigger ones with leaves. I sold a couple I had several months ago, I only have one left now

thank you that is good info. i looked at ebay and the guy on there sells like 42 for 10.00. i figure 100 of them would be a good start. what other plants are good to put in my sump or refuge.

chaeto, is the easiest and overall seems to be the best nutrient export, there are other caulerpas that do a great job, but if they die or go asexual can make a mess. mangroves and chaeto are pretty safe

from what i understand the mangroves remove nitrates among other things and they only need plant grow lighting.

they needs decent lighting, but a regular light bulb would be enough, they are a good exporter of nutrients, but need to be large plants to remove alot of nutrients. dont exepect them to be a lifesaver! LOL
