Mangrove root-- can I trim?

I have mangroves with the roots in my display... I absolutely love it and they are one of my favorite parts of the tank.. the roots are stretching and growing quick... can I trim them or perhaps re-route if nothing else? I'm guessing trim might be bad but not sure...

Try to not cut the main (central) root. That might stunt growth... Caveat: Not a mangrove expert, just some general root knowledge...

Nope.. decided not to just letting them go at this point
 
Hey did you even plant them? Looks like the roots are exposed in the water. I'm just curious got one myself, having trouble making room to plant it in my tank because of the roots.
