Manifold pump

I made a manifold for my tank al together it’s only around 40 ish gallons . I have a pump running my frag tank and a pump running my uv and want to get ride of them and just have one pump I also want to add a algae scrubber . I have a Jacob dc 1200 laying around but I think on the lowest setting it’s still a lot of flow can I just put a ball valve to slow down flow or should I just buy a smaller pump

You can add a y-connector and ball valve to the return pump line just after the pump to dump additional flow back into the sump instead of restricting flow, which can cause noise issues sometimes.
