Manifold with dedicated pump - look for builds

Hello - I have been searching all morning, but the majority of manifold build threads/designs/videos build off of the return pump.

This is odd since it seems like running the manifold from a dedicated pump has a number of advantages, but I can't seem to find any build threads or info on going this route!

Can anyone recommend a build (or just thoughts on your own system) where a manifold was designed to be run from a single, dedicated pump? System size doesn't matter, though I'm looking to do this with a 525xl FWIW.

Are the returns of the apparatuses which are going to be attached to the manifold going back into the sump? If not, then it would make sense to use the return pump to drive water through the manifold...IMO.

For my build, I have a manifold which provides water through the UV and then to the DT as well as a chiller which does the same. I did not want either of those to return to the sump.
 
It would primarily be for GFO + Carbon reactors and potentially a UV. In most cases I've seen the reactors do drain back into the sump, yes. I think the most efficient way would be to drain them directly into the return chamber so that the water doesn't get recycled back into the manifold pump. Not sure on the viability of this though...
 
Okay, I use a dedicated (small) Sicce for GFO + Carbon.

Regarding UV, you would want it to return to the DT; otherwise you are going to have somewhat of a recycling event going on with the return going back into the UV again. Just my thoughts and your mileage may vary. :)

Appreciate your thoughts - does this problem not also exist with the GFO/Carbon as well? Where do you have those draining?

I assume some recycling is unavoidable unless these items drain directly into the return chamber, I'm just not sure if this would disrupt the water flow/levelling in the sump.

Also - aren't most UV systems very specific about the amount of flow through them? If your return is going through the UV straight to the DT, is that not an awful lot of flow (maybe too much) for the UV? My understanding is lower-flow is typically better for UV since it provides more time for the microbes to be exposed to the light.
