I have a 55 gallon tank. Thinking of getting a mantis shrimp with a few clowns. I've been reading about it and getting mixed vibes from everyone . Help!

Be very careful with the mantis. I had 3 small ones - less than 2", sneak in with live rocks. They were responsible for me losing several fish, mainly fish that hid in the rocks or gravel where they were easy prey for the mantis. I was going to say clowns would probably be ok, but then my clown I've had for over 4 years disappeared last week and I'd say it was likely the mantis. Don't trust the buggers no matter what size they are.

Agree with the other statements...especially clowns. Clowns are notoriously heavy sleepers so even more vulnerable to these nocturnal predators.

i have a hitchhiker mantis that came in live rock last year and ive lost a few fish since then. if i could get the mantis out i would!

My buddy had a large mantis and the only fish that survived were large and fairly agressive. It completely destroyed his cuc and messed up some of his corals but miraculously his cleaner shrimp survived. He ended up buying a fish trap and selling it.

I had a six line survive with our mantis shrimp. But she sleeps under the sand at night and is fast. Also a black, and white damsel(the demon fish lol) but anything else the mantis will most likely eat sorry. Ours got spoiled and we fed him great everyday
