Before anyone buys any more marco they may want to know things have changed. They are trying to sell inferior rock as marco. This new rock is more like the Texas Holey rock or calcium carbonate rock that everyone is use to seeing. Its still better than the heavy florida base rock. This was my third and last order from marco unless they get the good stuff back in.
:ah:
sorry not a member of chattanooga reef club yet but you guys should know this.

it was because of fiji shutdown or some BS like that. At least thats what Mark told me was the hold up. I waited two months to get 100lbs. Now i got 50lbs of crap with my new order thats not going in my new tank.

I just got 150lbs of the new rock and it looks great to me. No cycling at all. It is heavier, but cheap, and like I said, no cycle.

So lets see here, Continue to destroy living reefs to get great looking fiji rock, or start harvesting another rock with no adverse affect on our living reefs. Im picky about my rock to, but you wont find me on the picket line asking people to keep ripping out the existing reefs. I havent seen the new rock they are supplying, but like it or not it is cutting down on killing the reefs, so im for it until proven otherwise.

I ordered the deco pre cyycled stuff. The original rock was suppose have been harvested dry not pulled from a living reef. Atleast thats what they said. The new stuff still looks okay, but he should have mentioned the weight difference on the web site. Thats what I am mad about. Sorry if I offended the environmentalist in the group.

Im no enviromentalist, but the story i got as to why they slowed down collecting is because they were removing way more than the laws allowed, and they were ripping up living reefs to. thats why I made the comment.

look under reef2reefs sponsors for marco rocks

Didn't hear about removing more rock than law allowed. Was this marco or in general?
If this is the case I regret buying anything form them at all.

NOPE not Marco! It wasn't Marco that was destroying the reefs. It was people from the Island along with a well known supplier that I will not mention. Figi has put a stop to harvesting the rock basically because of this one supplier. Trust me there is more to come of this. Just hang on...

Hey everyone,
Thanks for your support and helping to try to keep things straight here.
Let me start by adding We have no say or involvement whatsoever in the Fiji Quotas how much is shipped or how much is allowed into this country. We also have no say in how the rock is collected down there, it would take a far bigger player than us for that.

We still have the Fiji rock and although limited now will continue to carry it when available. I don't have any say in quotas or even try to understand them, I can only assume that given this new limited availability. They are working within a sustainable harvest.
Looking forward to the day that the hobby is ready to accept a domestic rock or when Fiji shuts down for good (like Tonga), we have found and are now offering a product that all things considered is the best value out there.

Also to try to help any future confusion please know that there is and never has been rock we called MarcoRocks
The rock most commonly called MarcoRocks is out signature Fiji (hence the signature tag)
But we also carry Fiji Premium, Florida Base and the new Key Largo rock.
With more reef friendly and maricultured choices coming.

Anyone with any questions or comments is more than welcomed to call as always
