Marine Aquaponics?

My current build has been delayed. While I was hoping to be up and running by now, I am still months away. So Ive had time to think.

I have a full unfinished basement with low ceilings and plenty of room. This will be the location of my sump.

I'm considering plants for my fuge area. The thought crossed my mind of using something edible. Purslane and saltwort are two that I believe I could grow in a pvc hydroponic system connected to my sump. Has anyone tried this? Has anyone ever eaten anything out of their aquarium? Fish or plant? I cant seem to find any example of anyone doing this. Please input any thoughts or experience on this issue.
 
People have Eaton cheato but I don’t think anyone would want to eat there fish
 
Releasing Lionfish that people were no longer able to care for has led to them being an invasive species in some areas. This has led to a trend in eating wild caught invasive lionfish. If one was no longer able to keep one and couldn't find a suitable home, dinner would most likely be the most continent decision.
