Hey everyone,

I have a Marine Betta that has been in my tank about 3-4 months. He's been acting a bit strange the entire time I've had him though. When I first got him he would swim, found a nice cave or two that he would stay in. After about a week or so he started just hanging out at the bottom of the tank. When he's doing this he's not "swimming" he's literally resting on the ground. He will swim to new spots once in awhile but when he gets to that area or cave he will again be resting on the ground. He's eating ghost shrimp. I'll put a few in the tank and he'll go after them, eat them, and then he'll rest back on the ground. It's like he's sick but he doesn't have any other symptoms and this has been going on for 3-4 months. No other fish have had any problems either. No aggression in the tank. My other tank mates are one clown, diamond watchman goby, ruby flasher wrasse, and a royal gramma. This is in a 75 G tank with a 30 gallon sump so he has PLENTY of living space and the levels are great. The good news is he still has a healthy appetite. Any suggestions or thoughts? I'm pretty sure this behavior is not normal.

I'd also like to add that I've had this system up and running for 5-6 years so it's very established.

I can only make guesses based on the info provided...

I wonder if you have a low oxygen issue. Do you have good surface agitation?
