Ive had my marine betta about 5 months now. He is still super shy and hides when m near the tank. Anyone know if this is just him or? When I did Lots of research a ton of stuff said they were super personable and stuff when they get comfortable. Just wondering if they take a while? I love this dude, super stunning fish. He only comes out at night still. Earliest Ive seen him is 6pm. I know they are naturally nocturnal, just saw a lot of people saying theirs comes out in the day

I don’t have one but I’ve heard the opposite in that they are a super shy/reserved fish usually.
A lot of what I read said that too but a lot of other forms like this talked about how they were super friendly once comfortable thats why I was curious.

Im not upset or anything with him, I just wish I could see him more. Stunning fish, and for sure has a presence about him! My guy is small too, maybe 4 inches max

Mine never liked the high light. Would come out for a quick spin and check things out. More of a night time fish

They are naturally nocturnal. That’s why.

Yep they for sure are! Ive seen people post pictures of them in bright light in their reefs but my guy comes put more and more. My lights are not super bright for them anyway

have had a pair for 2 years. naturally shy and timid fish. They will come out for food if they are hungry.
Mine actually comes out a lot now! No longer hiding, he found a place to float in a corner and then will cruise the tank! Im so happy! I have considered a pair though, how did you pair them?

Bought three. One was clearly the odd man out. I don't see any breeding behavior and the aren't buddy, buddy. Could not be a true pair, could be bc tank is so small. i hope to move them to a bigger tank soon. they are plumbed into my 150 display, but the current fish are too aggressive at feeding time. Worried the betta would not get enough even with my efforts.

Have had many bettas in past 50 years, always shy… out for feeding, but right back in rock work after eating.
Mine is way more out and about now I noticed. Doesnt use his cave anymore since he found a corner he likes and floats in the water column! Very happy to see. They are so beautiful

I have a pair (?),,, the big one is 8- 9” and I’ve had him, near 10 years, got him from a friend that had him 7 years. The smaller one I’ve had about 2 yrs, got from another friend that had it for a few years.

Wow they live that long??

ive had one for almost 2 years and he comes out only when hes hungry, usually in the evening, i would try stick feeding to get him to come out more, mine used to hide when i would come over but now he actually begs for food (only when hes out) and yes, they can live over 20 years.

Wow! I really like him. Super cool fish. Mine is not about stick feeding and he wont let me watch him eat. Will stare at food if Im there but if I leave and come back its all gone.
