This is a marine betta in quarantine...Dropsy or intestinal parasites, maybe both? Slightly distended abdomen, pineconing of scales where pectoral fins are. Treated with kanaplex and metroplex for full duration and changing to Epsom salt treatment to give him a break. Saw white stingy poo today. Seems better today and abdomen is smaller but not gone. I’m afraid to over do the medication that’s why I’m changing to Epsom salt. Daily water changes to keep ammonia near zero. He’s not eating in front of me so I haven’t added too much extra food and I siphon it out within 15 minutes. Advice? It’s almost impossible to get a clear picture.

General cure (metro/prazi) mixed with pellet and flake "mush" with Seachem focus as a general antibiotic and binding agent. Dropsy is actually a symptom, not a disease itself, it usually points towards an internal organ failure caused by infection or internal parasites.

He will not eat. I’ve been treating with metroplex and kanaplex. It seems to have helped. I did the full dosing time. I’m afraid to over do the medication. He isn’t really swollen Much anymore. It’s much better.

Pick up some live fresh water glass shrimp. He’ll eat. Then you can switch over to mysis then pellets. That’s how got my betta to eat in QT.

Make sure the parameters of the water are good in the qt, ammonia, salinity. Drop a small live shrimp near him and hide yourself to see if he goes for it. If he does, at least he won't be starving and you can try to treat him for internals.

Also, does he have areas to hide? They are shy fish and will prob be stressed if they are always in open water.

I had them he hasn’t eaten them this week. He ate brine before he got sick. It’s so hard to feed in quarantine because the ammonia spikes. I’m doing 5 gallon water changes everyday in a 20 gallon.

He has a pvc pipe to hide in. I’m trying live. No go this week yet. last week yes.

Feed, and use a baster to suck up all the leftover food a few minutes after. It will help control some of the ammonia build up.

Feed a lil at a time, give it privacy amd come back later too see if any of it is gone.
