Marine Betta?

Thinking about getting a marine betta for my 100 gl tank. Does anyone have any experience with them? Do they hide all the time? Will they eat smaller fish 2in. ? Any advice would be great.

I seen one the other day. They are a lot bigger than I imagined.

They're pretty peaceful, had a bellus angel beat one up to death so some fish just plain don't like them.
I think they would probably only eat new additions small enough to fit in its mouth.

I have one in a 225. They are a peaceful fish that hasn't eaten anything else yet. They are gorgeous but prefer slower waters and dimmer lights. Mine is in a reef and he does hide most of the time. When I had one in a fish only it used to come up and take shrimp out of my hand.

I've had one for a few years and it's my favorite fish by far. I built lots of darker caves and shadowed areas in to my tank and also chose one which was out and about at the wholesalers (was the best one out of about 50). If they start off shy they can stay shy and getting it used to you in qt can help massively. Mine associates me with food and eats out of my hand, so comes out when I am near the tank.
I also have it as my only large fish. There are no tangs or boisterous species and it's the king of the tank. I did lose two fully grown cleaner shrimp to it and haven't seen any bristle worms since it went in but it's not overly predatory. I wouldn't keep fish as small as 2" as mine happily eats krill bigger than that. I did have a couple of clown fry (an inch or so) escape into the tank with it (long story) and they were fine but I think overtime, or if it got hungry, then it would have eaten them. I've also seen it lunge at my mandarin a few times but I think that is more in annoyance than aggression and the mandarin couldn't really care less.

I have a pr with small fish, they completely ignores the small fish, but when I tried to add peppermint shrimp and they ate them all.

I'm a little worried it would go after my clowns. Both are pretty young and about an inch and half. Should I be worried?

I have mine in with 2 pair of clowns and 4 Talbot damsels and it hasn't bothered them. I also have a Fire shrimp that it leaves alone. Every fish is different. I'd imagine if he is the last one added the smaller ones should be ok buy there's no guarantees.

I have a pair in a 120G reef. They need hiding places to feel safe. Sometimes they will go two weeks without showing themselves and then one day they will be swimming around in the open. Feed Black worms along with blender mush, mysis, and krill.

I wouldn't be overly worried about the average fish like clowns as they are deeper bodied than I believe they would eat. If you had neon goby shaped fish it might be an issue. Shrimps are fair game as they are pretty squishy. Mine is now around 7" including tail but it's very peaceful.
