Marine betta

i would say yes ,esp. if coming from another reefer, compared to shop/etc...

It's a local shop I buy from a ton. Trying to keep the afloat by myself it feels lol. Little mom and pop shop. They claimed they have had it 2 months (newer guy there) but I go there frequently and haven't seen it. I was debating grabbing it for my 8ft 260 gallon tank. Tangs, anthias, clowns, and a few odds and ends fish will be going in there with it as well.

I been considering getting a captive one but my fish are pretty hyperactive wrasses/tang/butterflies so I have not pulled the trigger since I am not sure a Marine Betta will appreciate those tank mates. They can be shy/cryptic.

I've read up on them a bit here and there. Didn't know if there are certain fish that will pester it or it pester others etc. Kinda the insider scoop from people who successfully keep them. They only eat live foods?

I debated that as well since the shyness, also debated keeping it in my 4ft 55g frag tank but I think it would like a bigger tank better

The captive ones eat pellets. Not sure about wild. I figured since I would be getting a captive one, it may be a pain to feed too since it is so small. Ugh, can't decide.

I think you can keep them with active fish, just better chance of an outgoing one or more activity if it is with calm tank mates.

Mine eats frozen/flake with everyone else, but it took some coaxing and feeding at night to get him there.

I have a 55g, 65g and a 32 bio tied together with a 20g sump lol. But it's one of those fish I'd love to see in the big tank but also don't want it dying because it can't eat fast enough or too shy to

My brother had one years ago in his 72 gallon bowfront. If I ever see one for sale in my area I'd buy it in a heart beat. Very docile and cool fish. I can't remember if they need live food or not like a mandarin.

Just make sure they are eating well before putting in that tank. They can be difficult yo feed at first. An observation tank to get eating well is a good idea before going into the display.

No problems. Can handle more flow than people think. Trick with more active fish is feed more than one food. Like mysis mixed with sinking pellets. If they cant get mysis they get plenty of pellets when other fish distracted, and vice versa.

My LFS did the same with me when trying to sell a black & white wrasse (A. neoguinaicus). It’s still there but when they first had it the newer one said “Shes been here 2 months”. I didn’t trust it because I go there every week and never saw her before.
I would get him since it’s a pretty good price for a 4” one. As said above make sure they are eating well, ask the LFS to feed the tank and see if it’s eating - If they refuse then chances are it’s in eating or doing well.

That's my goal. If it eats I may buy it

I have had my beta in a 120g for 6 or 7 years with 3 tangs and a copper banded and he does just fine. Nobody seems to bother him.
