Wassup people (again) but um, another question, is there a way to prevent or to atleast prepare for a ich or velvet outbreak, I was think a UV sterilizer CPR ich as some of its life stages are swimming but I want to have a.copepod population and for velvet a cleaner shrimp because it's not like ich that's in mucus and the cleaner shrimp can get it. Also QT is not possible to do as I am not wasting money on a tank and I have no room and I find a waste of time and moving the fish will just stress it even more. Anyway QT is impossible unless we are using rapid fish QT or something. That's for the help

QT is the way to go. QT is not a waste of money or time. It is a must in this hobby if you want a disease free tank. It's up to you. I find the hobby a lot more relaxing knowing my tank is disease free.

Do clownfish get ich and velvet and would a Fluval evo 13.5 be good for a QT

Heater, pvc for fish to hide, a small powerhead. Check out the Disease forum. There's a lot of great info there. Humblefish is your best guide.

You don’t need a fluval if you don’t want it.

For a QT tank I use a 10 gallon Aqueon ($12.99) a sponge filter (I don’t remember the price exactly but it wasn’t more than $20 for sure, and a heater ($20 or so). I cover the top of the tank with window screen when it’s in use, to protect the fish from jumping out. I have an airstone and pump ($26.99) that I added when I was dosing PraziPro (since PraziPro along with many medications uses up oxygen in the tank so you need to compensate). My pump has four outlets and four airstones so you could probably get something cheaper. I went with this one because it was the only thing available and having the option to add more aeration didn’t seem like a bad thing. You don’t need lights unless the tank is in a windowless closet that’s pitch black. I have some PVC elbows that cost a few cents each at the hardware store.

My whole setup cost just over $80 and at least here the fluvals cost at least twice that.

Important caveat: if you decide you want to quarantine corals (they can transport ich and velvet) then the fluval has lights that will support softies and LPS and some SPS so that might be something to consider. AND if you get the fluval and use it for both inverts and fish and you medicate those fish, you’ll need to read up on how to remove all medication from the tank since things like copper are fatal to corals and other inverts when at the concentrations used to treat fish.
