I have a MP 8x8x4 brick cycling in a 5 gallon bucket for a new build Im about to complete. It has been cycling for 4 months and each week I add a little of Dr. Tims ammonia to it while once a month do a 100% WC. Well I go to add the ammonia today and see the MP brick is breaking down. Theres small and large particles floating around and the water is super cloudy. I do a 100% WC and notice the brick has begun to disintegrate for no apparent reason. It's in our spare room with a cover, heater and power head for circulation. Im debating if I should even add this to the new tank with all the controversy surrounding them...thoughts?

Are you pointing power head directly to MP or flow is too strong
I placed mine in low flow area
Power head is pointed at the surface and is only rated for 50gph. The area that’s deteriorating is at the bottom...

Pure block are very fragile when I get them in the store half the shipment is broke but they are great for bacteria groth

I should mention that I have been using these for the last 4 yrs and in that time have had 6 of these. This is the first to fall apart like I’m describing.
