Hi, I just got marine pure gems the small style marine pure. I’m wondering do people put them in a bag or should I just drop them in my aqua clear? I’ve got a in tank mod for the aqua clear 50. Let me know what you guys think, right now I have them in a Red Sea bag.

I would just set them in there. Marine Pure are very "fragile" and can break and get dust all in your water so make sure you rinse them first and place them where they wont move around.

I would definitely upgrade from a HOB eventually, but its nice that you will have seeded media.

Would you say to get a sump for my 37 gallon?

I use the next size up marine pure balls and have them lying in the bottom of my refugium in my sump. No bag or container to hold them.

Yes. HOBs aren't really good enough for a tank that size. You will need to clean it like every 2-3 days probably.

I ran a 40B with just a HOB Aquaclear 50 for well over a year. They don't really get that dirty. I would rinse my sponge and change my carbon and filter floss out every 2-3 weeks.

My aqua clear has a in tank mod that I bought and it makes the aqua clear a lot better.
