Hi, I am new to reefing and this forum. I recently purchased a Yellow Tang at Petco and made a newbie mistake and not quarantining it.. i know
. Is there a possibility that Marine Ich is in my tank? Should I fallow it for 6 weeks or Start from scratch.
- Just a little of a backstory first.
WHen I first introudced my tang he semed fine a couple days later he got white spots. First though it was ich and treated it with Kordon's ich attack in my display tank but realizing it was marine Velvet becasue of the fine sguar looking on his body. I knew something must be done, so I quickly took a 2.5 gallon (I know, i'm sorry this tank is microscopic for a yellow tang but it was so close to dying that I had no other choice, I didn't have any good sized big tanks) I quickly than transferred the Yellow Tang. Does this mean that my main tank is now affected with Marine Velvet? I currently have a cleaning shrimp two Clown fish and a coral beauty angelfish.
None of them seems to have signs of velvet and are eating and look very healthy
Also my friend has also bought a Yellow Tang from the same Petco and same Tank it was in and it was also infected with velvet and died within 9 hours he bought it. I guess thats what you get for buying at Petco..
