hey reefers I have a about marine Velvet. So my 2 tangs died a damsel and a dotty back all I have is my porcupine puffer. My question is should I tear down my tank and start over or should I let it die off and not add and fish? And my next question if I decide to not add fish for the 4 months can I add coral?

Velvet has lifecycle of 6 weeks. Catch the remaining fish out and copper them let the tank sit fallow for 2 months just to be safe.
Velvet can COME in on any hard surface. Meaning, any coral, invert,CUC or equipment you add that may have come from a velvet infested tank is potentially a threat. Hence why QT of EVERYTHING is important. Bottom line is reality is different that theory and most likely you will not properly QT everything correctly. So my suggestion, is QT fish properly and observe fish with new coral additions in their separate system. QT fish if you see a problem from that point

So I should be okay to leave my tank up and running without the fish in it. I don’t have to drain it? And is it possible for ich and velvet to stay in the tank longer than the 6 weeks to 3 months and if so what should I do then?
