Marineland 93 gallon cube or Deep Blue/SCA ?

Hey guys. Still juggling which tank to set up. I have a 120 but boss lady wants me to sell it off and get a cube.

I was looking at deep blue 60 gallon rimless, which I've had

I was looking at SCA 50 gallon rimless which is small but doable.

But then I got to looking at the Marineland 93 gallon rimless cube and love the dimensions. I have heard some things where marineland tanks break or what not but is this with a specific tank ?

LFS store says they have not had any problems with marineland , and that they have changed their warranty a little bit now letting you have any "manufactured" stand and still keep warranty. Of course this is 30x30 so I'll have to get their stand anyway.


Only cons I see are :
-Heard bad thoughts about marineland
-If stand is too short maintenance will be a pain in the sump (could put in basement though)

I can get the Marineland set up for $640. Which I thought was decent.

I'm currently running the Marineland 60g rimless. I haven't had a single issue with it for well over a year now. I was recently talking to the owner of one the LFS and mentioned that most of the times he heard of issues with the tank, it was due to the owner not having it nice and level.

I'm praying I don't have any failures with mine..

I also use the stand it came with and haven't had any issues quality wise. I do have my sump located in another room, so I'm not fighting the small amount of head room in that stand.

That being said, I have had long tanks before and I love my cube much more!

Yea I mean I would like the option to keeping the sump upstairs and don't want to build a stand this time around.

They look really short but I'm trying to get a height and them....

My previous tank was a SCA 50G cube and it was a great tank. The quality was very nice and the price is really good. They usually run sales on these from time to time.

The only thing I would change out is the sump with a trigger sump and opt in for the wood cabinet vs MDF if I were to do it all over again.

That's exactly what I was looking at as a 3rd option. SCA 50 gallon with black wood stand and cube sump if kept upstairs.

Just not sure if it's big enough and if I'll always wish I would have went bigger.

That's why I like the Marineland over the Deep Blue, since it's a little shorter than wide and long like the SCA.

SCA does have good prices but no real difference between these. You do get a way better stand. Only concern with Stands are Marineland is 26" High. Deep Blue and SCA are closed in for ventilation.

With just Tank, Wood Stand it would be $645

The Marineland will run me $649 for tank and stand (short)

And the Deep Blue would be $499 for tank and Stand.

If your worried about wanting to go bigger, SCA does make a 90G cube. The clarity on starfire glass is top notch. Also I believe their all drilled for herbie style drain now.

I didn't see a 90 gallon cube. I see the "90 gallon cube" but it's actually 36x24x24.

May be possible but the boss lady like the actual cubes better.

They also have the 80 gallon which is 32x24x24 but with wood stand that bumps it up to $1100 vs $649 on the Marineland.

Maybe I'll just get the marine land and drill through my floor ! Lol

the 93g cube from marineland is a good volume tank. Nice tank for viewing though.
If your wife does not like the 120g, then you should consider the SCA 50g instead. the Marineland 93g cube is twice the size or twice the volume of the 50g SCA cube.

The Marineland tank is a little tall and can be very dangerous. see my tank build link (post #25 on)

Unfortunately not. I think the only 30x30 stand is Marineland since their the only Manfactured 30x30 tank.

I had the 24x24 before. I like the looks but had to cut a big hole in the back for ventilation. If your keeping your sump in there I would recommend putting fans in their for sure. I had A LOT of condensation on my walls everyday

The tank will be on the end of our couch so the 93 gallon would have been sweet to look at/thru. Wanted to have a minimalist aquascape to have a big open area. Just scares me looking at your bubbles and other saying they had same thing lol

Ifarmer, how iwas that tank dangerous? I looked at the thread but I didn't see any indication of failure, just you didn't like it?
