Iam curious to know if Marineland has made revisions to their tank practices with the Deep Dimensions 300 gallon. If you have experienced a seam failure with your 300 gallon, post what year you purchased your tank. Also if you haven't had a seam failure let us know also. Thanks, Happy Reefing!

The one I had up to two years ago was bought in 2014, and was run with no problems up to the point we moved, at which point I broke it down and sold it. Only complaint was the stand was lacking in vertical clearance and not the highest quality.

I have no idea whether ML makes them differently now than they used to. Not a DD, but I had the ML265 for a while and was happy with it. A buddy of mine has had the 300DD for about 5 years. No seam issues, but he has had some etching on the starphire glass front. Really big glass tanks do make me nervous, which is why I went acrylic with my current 450. Big glass tanks really should be eurobraced on the bottom - not sure why ML doesn’t do that.

From the research I’ve done a lot of the seam failures we’re on DIY stands that settled over time causing additional stress on the seams. I’ve had no issues with mine as it’s on an aluminum stand on a concrete slab so no fluctuations. Fear is a strong motivation with these tanks to the point where I’ve had people tell me not to do more than a 10% water change at a time to keep flexing to a minimum. If Marineland had that many failures they would have eliminate the product all together not change the silicone provider. They would risk irreparable damage to their brand and retailers like Petsmart and Petco could also face backlash from a poor product. If you follow common sense and plan accordingly there shouldn’t be an issue with any tank.
