Can the whites on these fixtures be easily swapped out for some 3w 460nm blues? I currently have one unit over a 40B fresh water tank but was thinking of taking the tank down, getting some 1/4 glass cut to make a small frag tank. 36x9x10 and using this light over it. Thoughts?

Of course MarineLand said that 2 double brights would be enough for a coral tank but I doubt that and am not willing to spend another $130 for another fixture. Looking to use this fixture and possibly make it better to suit my needs. Thanks Joe

When I took the lense out, the star chip led looks just like the 3w 460nm blues I already have. I know the single brights are 1w and thought the double brights were 3w leds. Possibly driven at only 2watts. Ill have to double check on marinelands website but I think they are 3w leds. If that is the case then I don't see why it can't be done.

NM just looked and the double brights are 1w leds. Kinda sucks was hopping to use that for a future project.

I had a Marineland led fixture about 3 years ago. They gave them away at MACNA in Orlando 2010. It was worth just about what I paid for it... nothing. My recommendation is start over with a better 3W fixture. I've seen the EverGrow D120 fixture on sale here at R2R for just over $140.
